ONE-OFF/CUSTOM WORK

This page will showcase some of the "one-off" and "custom work" lamps that I have built for customers, friends or for myself.  Sometimes, people have ideas or want something out of the ordinary but just don't have the skills required, the time needed or the imagination to pull off what they want.  That's where I can step in and help.

If you have an idea for a lamp or have something that you would love to have turned into a lamp, use my CONTACT ME  page and message me.  I would love to work with you and see what we can come up with.

Shoe Lamp (#1)

One of my co-workers (at my real job) brought me a pair of shoes and wanted them both turned into lamps as a gift to his sister. His sister is into fashion and the "Paris Fashion" thing. One of his requests was to include "runway lights" to simulate a fashion runway. This is what I came up with for the first one.

I put in a 3-way switch and wired it so with the first click, the "runway lights" come on by themselves and act as accent lighting.  The 2nd click of the switch, the "runway lights" go off and the top light comes on by itself.  In the 3rd position, both the "runway lights" and the top light are on for full brightness.

The shade is custom made, featuring Paris' Eiffel Tower and has black lace trim at top and has a black lace fishnet trim at the botton.

Shoe Lamp (#2)

This is the 2nd Shoe Lamp that I built for my customer.  It is the same base as the 1st one and has the same switch setup.  Only difference is the shade.

The shade is my camera shade with the addition of black lace trim at the top and a black lace beaded trim at the bottom.

Xenex Robot Lamp

In my "real job" I'm an Electronics Technician with Xenex Disinfection Services. We build and sell the LightStrike line of Disinfection Robots (center picture below) which uses pulsed UV light to deactivate SARS-CoV-2, MRSA, Candida auris, C. diff as well as other dangerous pathogens.

I built this lamp to resemble our LS6 line of robots.  The side panels are actually cut from panels that are used on our LS6 robots.  I installed a Plasma bulb on top to simulate the pulsing light of our robots.

I took this lamp to work and it now resides in our company breakroom for all the employees and visitors to see.

Chicken Lamp

My mom loves chickens so for her birthday, I built her this lamp.  The base is a "tree slice" with a wooden box bonded to the underside to hide the electronics.  Covering the tree slice is crafting moss to give that earthy look.

The large white chicken is made of resin and has an "egg" protruding from its rear area that is actually a light bulb.  I threw in a few chenille chicks and a miniature chicken coop to complete the farm look.

I installed a 3-way switch in the base so you can have the chicken "egg" light on by itself like an accent light, the top light on by itself or both lights on together. I topped it off with a custom made chicken/rooster fabric lamp shade and installed a 4 watt LED "daylight" bulb to provide plenty of lighting.

Custom Vintage Rotary Dial Phone

One of my co-workers asked me to build him a Pittsburg Steelers themed phone lamp as a gift for his son.  This is what I came up with.

Whatchamacallit

(THIS LAMP IS NOT FOR SALE)

Please don't ask me what it is... LOL. It's just something I threw together and thought it looked cool. It's sitting on the end table in my livingroom and I love having the fire feature going of an evening while watching tv.

At the top, I used a mechanic's drop light housing and installed a 100 watt equivalent LED bulb. The red knob is a dimmer switch that controls both the top bulb as well as the analog volt meter.

The blue knob is an on/off switch that controls the fire feature. The twin fire lights are LED flame bulbs that are inside magnetically attached hexagon flame tubes. Surrounding both the red and blue knobs is a timing chain and gears out of a Chevrolet 350 V-8.

The lower box contains a pair of a/c plugs and a pair of USB phone charging ports. I also installed a digital voltmeter that displays amperage and a/c frequency as well. The dual braided hoses are to give the effect of gas supply lines to the flames. The lamp base is an industrial water shutoff valve handle.
